We are looking for someone to be with our two little dachshunds (Jasper and Millie) over the Christmas period as we go overseas.
Our federation styled double storey home is situated on a river island in a rural setting, surrounded by extensive gardens and overlooking the Clarence River approximately halfway between Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay.
The home is air conditioned, has a large pool and reasonably well equipped gymnasium which we are happy you to use at your leisure. While we are happy for you to enjoy the garden and pool, we aren't asking that you be involved in their upkeep. Our sole concern is for two little dogs that have never spent a day apart from us or each other. Putting them in a pet motel is not an option because the one thing that could increase their stress at being separated from us would be to take them out of their home environment. We are very happy for the sitter to be away from periods during the day as the home is well fenced and there is a secure backyard that adjoins their sleeping area. We do however want the sitter to be in the home of an evening because Jasper and Millie draw a great deal of security from routine and sticking to it.
Their routine isn't demanding, in fact it's quite simple, but it seems to be vitally important to them. We are hoping for a sitter who loves dogs but doesn't own one themselves. Bringing new dogs into the environment is just another layer of potential stress that we would rather avoid if possible. That being said, we are open to negotiation from the right small dog if that's important to you. As you can see, it's all about the dogs for us. We will struggle to relax if we can't be assured that Jasper and Millie are happy and settled.
