We are looking for a non smoking couple preferably, without children or pets who are into gardening to look after our quirky comfortable cottage.
Our original wooden cottage is surrounded by a large organic garden. We are a couple of part-time artists and enjoy a very private and calm location. The sea is just around the corner with a walkway running along the coast. 10 minute walk from the city centre, museum, cinema, shops etc. The house itself is comfortable, with plenty of books in both English and French, no TV but we have Wifi. The region offers plenty of opportunities for nature lovers with the Egmont National Park, featuring Taranaki volcano.
Our garden has vegetable plots in a few places. The lawns will need to be cut regularly. The home sitters are welcome to use the veges as they mature of course.
There is also a small pond with a couple of gold fish to feed. We try to discourage the neighbourhood cats, sorry.
The house and garden are non-smoking. There are a few cafés, restaurants, fish n’ chips and other takeaways a few minutes walk from the house. A bus stop stop around the corner can bring you to the city centre which otherwise is only minutes walk away. You will enjoy lunch on the deck, looking at the garden.
A must to visit, Egmont National Park with the iconic Taranaki volcano, sits proudly in the middle of the region while the whole coastline offers breathtaking sceneries. Further inland, follow the Forgotten Highway and step-back in time. Closer to home, Pukekura Park is a green jewel in the middle of New Plymouth attracting many visitors to free evening summer concerts and its Festival of Lights.
