My husband and I are going to be travelling in Europe from mid-December 2016 through mid-January 2017 and are looking for a responsible older couple who love dogs and could come and keep our older border collie company in Sacramento. We live in a ground-floor apartment so she requires two walks per day; there are several parks within a 5-minute walk of our complex for her longer daily exercise and a green space right outside our front door for her to do her business in between. She does fine with other dogs as long as they are on leash so walks/hikes are fine, but we don't take her to off-leash areas where other dogs can run up and get in her personal space. She loves car rides and would be thrilled to accompany you on your adventures in the Sacramento valley, Lake Tahoe, the San Francisco Bay Area, etc. all of which are very accessible from our home as we live in close proximity to I-80, I-5, and US-50.
She is used to one of us being around a good deal of the time so ideally we would like a couple who can either be home with her more than just for sleeping at night or will bring her with you as you explore the area. She is crate-trained and sleeps there at night and when we're out but we try not to leave her more than 4-5 hours at a time. She came to us from a rescue and already had amazing house manners when we adopted her; she's also extremely quiet and has barked on maybe 2 occasions in the time we've had her! She has no medical issues currently and is in excellent physical health.
Must be clean, responsible, non-smokers. If you do not have access to a car you could use ours, provided you provide proof of liability insurance and are able to drive a standard/manual. Dates are not finalized yet but will be roughly third week of December through second or third week of January so you would get to celebrate Christmas with our girl!
