This is essentially a relaxed Caretaker role in addition to various property maintenance jobs and general upkeep. The housesitter needs to have: ? excellent handyman skills, ? able to work unattended, ? good interpersonal skills ? self-motivated I am never sure when and for how long I have to go out of town. My away period would usually not last more than a month or two but my home time may be short. I am looking for someone who will be able to house sit for the periods shown in the title. It is best if the house sitter experiences caring for my place prior to my departure, therefore it is preferred that I am around on your arrival. The house sitter is free to be away from the property for a few days at a time even when I am out of town.
This a low maintenance situation but there are many projects available to keep you as busy as you would like. I prefer a caretaker that likes to be kept busy with projects around the house and who has great handyman skills :). There are no pets that need taken care of but there may be some yard work from time to time. The house has for rooms that are mostly rented out year-round by short- or long-term renters, most are professionals who are usually at work during the day or in their rooms. They mostly clean up after themselves but you are responsible to keep the common areas clean (common areas include kitchen areas, bathroom, utility room and walkways). It is a quiet environment even when everyone is in the house.
It's very quiet during the day. Evenings are also quiet but you may hear a TV in another room or see someone preparing a meal to take back to their room. There is generally no need to drive anywhere unless you want to go somewhere different. You can take walks in a nearby park-like setting or go downtown (10 min car-ride).
Each guest room has it's own heating and cooling & TV. Hi-Speed Cable Internet is provided by means of WiFi for both guests and housesitters (limits apply). BBQ grills on the back deck. I have some bikes you can use.
There are some state parks in the area, canoe and kayaking, beaches. Some downtown museums are free seven days a week. Some arts and craft markets and a special art walk once per month. There is a free bus service that loops around the downtown area about every 20 mins. Lots of history in and around Mobile, but suggest you have transport to get around.
