Our beautiful 17th century house is located in a very friendly small hamlet in rural France, 8 kilometres from the nearest town, but within 1.5k of a boulangerie, bar and restaurants.
The house is large and comfortable with charentais stone floors, a stone staircase and huge fireplaces with tons of other original features. It has 4 bedrooms and bathrooms, a number of entertaining rooms and a manageable garden.
There is electric heating throughout, with a log burner and an open log fire in the main sitting rooms. We have a 'femme de ménage' and a gardener who come weekly to perform routine tasks and English/French speaking friends nearby to help with language issues if necessary.
The house is built on a number of levels, so there are steps and staircases in various places throughout. And although in very rural France, we have english and French TV and Wifi.
We are 140k from the coast (La Rochelle) and 40 minutes from Angouleme and Poitiers which have all the normal amenities of cities. Locally, we have a modest array of attractions including chateaux, Romanesque and Templar churches and roman remains. Beautiful walks, cycling, fishing etc.are at our doorstep. As there is no public transport a car is essential, though it may be possible to provide one for the sitters' use.
We would like cat loving sitter(s) to care for the house and our two small cats.
