We need a dog-loving, non-smoking, fragrance-free, neat and clean person or couple who will enjoy our home, beautiful Northern New Mexico, the incredible local culture, the fabulous out-of-doors, and all the charms of Santa fe -- the City Different. November 11 to December 18, If necessary we can wiggle the dates a bit.)
Our heeler mix dog needs an ear-rubbing companion while we are gone. Previous Housecarers have all enjoyed our dog, Chama. He is almost completely deaf in his old age, but he reponds to the important hand signals. He soon figures out that you're going to take him on daily walks, and then he'll be your best friend. There are walks out our front door and out our back gate -- and of course there are trails everywhere!
We know you'll want to explore Santa Fe, but we also want someone who will come and go rather than be gone all day every day. We hope you'll enjoy reading by the fire and evening soaks in the hot tub as much as you'll enjoy the million things to do in town and in the great outdoors. There is a dog door and a big enclosed back yard, so he can come in and out as he pleases while you are out and about.
We have a comfortable home with an always-hot hot tub, big screen tv, nice kitchen and all the amenities of a well-kept home. We live 2 miles from the Plaza, the heart of town, in a safe and friendly neighborhood on a quiet street. The house is pretty easy, just needing the everyday care you would afford your own home. (The house clreaner will come weekly at no charge to you.)There are a few not-too-fussy houseplants. There is not much to do during winter in our yard.
There are so many things to see and do within our small interesting city-- and so many fabulous restaurants! Santa Fe is an amazing place that embodies a rich history, melding Hispanic, Anglo and Native American cultures whose influences are apparent in everything from the architecture, the food, the art and on -- all with clean air under sunny blue skies an average of 310 days a year.
Santa Fe is seated at 7,000 feet with mountains all around. Winter brings generally mild weather before Christmas -- with highs in the 50s (F) and lows in the 20s. Count on clear and starry night skies and very little rain.
Flights come into Albuquerque (one hour away), or there are flights that can bring you right into Santa Fe and a short drive to our home.
PS We've had many Housecarers over the years with never a cancellation. Due to circumstances beyond her control, the one we had lined up had to cancel 16 days before departure. We're hoping there is someone out there in Housecarer land who likes to just get up and go!
