Our home has also been our historic inn. The building is a very large, 90'x40', historic, 1922 building on the State Historic Register, the Coal Heritage Trail, and has a balcony, front porch, 14 guest rooms, a dining room, and many other rooms, as well!
Our situation is unique, in that my husband will be here. I am also an Emergency Management Disaster Response Task Force Lead, and I need to be able to deploy shortly for Hurricane Season, and I do not want my husband to be alone here, as he is weak from years of cancer treatment (he is cancer-free now, thank G-d), and we have no nearby neighbors.
We have not had any guests at our inn since 2020, as we lost our help while my husband was under cancer treatment. We are looking for a house sitter or a couple who could stay here for at least 2 months, and help us out, as needed, so that I can be available to deploy.
We have high speed internet, so you could work or study remotely. You will have a Private Bath Guest Room on the 2nd floor, and use of our facilities. There are a lot of fun things to do in this area, which brought guests from all over the world to our Inn for 17 years, including world-class fly-fishing (catch-and-release) for trout right at the Inn on Elkhorn Creek, world-class railfanning (trainspotting and train photography) right at the Inn, ATVing to 100s of miles of trails (the famed "Hatfield McCoy Trails"), a State Park & Forest, lakes, birdwatching, golf, hiking, historic sites to visit, etc.
We have 4 rescue dogs and one indoor cat, and they are very spoiled :-) as someone is here all the time! We have a garden, and plants which are inside in the winter, and go outside in the spring/summer.
Basically the only things that need to be done are helping Dan to take care of the pets, watering the plants/garden, & calling me each day to let me know all is well! If you do any work here, such as cleaning, helping Dan with the pets & maintenance issues, we will pay you, and agree on the price before you start any work. Please feel free to ask me any questions, as we want our house sitter(s) to be happy here!
