We are John and André, home owners, dog lovers, travelers, outdoorspeople and adventurers. We live in the mountains of Colorado, USA, and have used Housecarers many times over the years to find great people to take care of our home and dogs. Our last beautiful golden retriever, Oscar, passed away just before Covid started and that enormous loss gave us an unanticipated freedom to begin traveling more. We always thought, after Oscar was no longer with us, that we would seek out housesit positions around the world to explore new places, meet new people and expand our horizons. Now that the world is slowly opening up, we want to fulfill our dream of travelling and living in different places. We know, as homeowners, how important it is to find reliable, trustworthy, mature, responsible people to care for your home and pet(s). We intend to give the same great care that has been given to us over the years to whomever finds us to be a good match for their housesit. We do not smoke, use drugs or drink excessive alcohol. We firmly believe in keeping a home as clean or cleaner than we found it, and returning it to you as you left it.
As mountain folks, we are very active and accustomed to the rigors of living at altitude, through long winters and the annual danger of fire season. For 30 years we have partially heated our homes with wood stoves and are very experienced and safe in doing so. Most of our days include some sort of outdoor recreation, be it hiking, skiing, kayaking or biking. All of our dogs have led lives of adventure and exploration, taking long daily walks in the woods, smelling the wildflowers and romping to their hearts' content. Should you choose us to care for your beloved 4-leggeds, we assure you we will treat them and care for them with all of the love and dedication with which we cared for our three beloved goldens: Jake, 13; Lucky, 14; and Oscar, 10.
