We're eager and ready to care for your pets and home in greater Sydney and internationally (US, Asia, UK, Europe).
Our current availability: In Australia -- Greater Sydney: from and February. Worldwide – 15 March – 14 April and May 2024.
We're in Australia for the southern summer, having recently completed a sit in Perth, our Australia base, for a dynamic staffy/boxer/bull arab-cross and the first of our Sydney sits for a smart and sociable Jack Russell. We have a super line-up of sits in NSW including a terrier mix (Baulkham Hills), a Cavoodle (Paddington - fourth sit), and a schnauzer cross cattle dog (Cherrybrook). And, we'll head up to Darwin too to look after two fabulous dogs.
In 2023, we had the pleasure and good fortune to have completed nine diverse and marvellous sits in the US and Australia. Our Australia sits have been in both Perth and NSW. 2023 sits included nine cats (mostly rescues), multiple dogs (Cavoodle, Groodle puppy, Springer Spaniels, Wolfhound, German Shepherd, Mastiff), budgies, fish, stick insects, and a bearded dragon.,
Going from one extreme to another, in 2022 we spent a month in hot, sunny Palm Springs, California with the majestic Miss Kitty and a month in chilly, rural country WA with two active dogs and a loving cat. Both environments were dazzling and beautiful. We've also cared for two adorable Lhasa Apsos in Perth, a rescue bull terrier and mature kitty in greater Sydney, and twice for a spectacular cavoodle in Paddington (NSW). It was a fun and busy, year.
We're comfortable administering medication to your pets, if required, and have experience with deaf and elderly animals.
We have been so blessed to travel much of the world witnessing its wonders. However, at this stage in our lives, we are more interested in experiences than in sightseeing. We enjoy spending extended periods in new or revisited places where we can care for and cuddle with your cats and dogs, visit the local cafe on a regular basis, and absorb the unique attributes of your community. This is what makes our hearts sing.
We've been married for 47 years, and while we've spent much of that time in Los Angeles raising our children and working in the communications and entertainment industries., we've also lived in Denver, Memphis and Boston in the US. And, in 2005 wanting a lifestyle change, we migrated to Western Australia. Now, we're retired, and we divide our time between Australia and Southern California. Life is good.
We are US citizens, and both hold Australian visas that allow us to live and work there long-term.
We've edited our possessions and whilst remaining active and relevant, we've opted for the two-suitcase life and have never been happier. Our only regret to this new found freedom and mobility is our inability to have our own pets, who have been an integral part of who we are. We have fostered numerous kitties for Western Australia's cat rescue centre, giving us heightened sensitivity to and experience in caring for abused and unwell little ones.
We love to experience first-hand exposure to and interaction with other cultures. We are curious, independent, adaptable, low maintenance people with very good problem solving skills.
All we need is a reliable, fast internet connection and a comfortable place to rest. AirCon/heating is also appreciated.
We'll bring fresh energy and enthusiasm to looking after your beloved pets and your unique home.
In addition to our 2022 sits, we completed a housesit in Perth in March 2020 looking after a stately, elderly kelpie just before Covid restrictions were put in place.
We also completed three house sits in for the same family in Busselton WA caring for two lively and wonderfully affectionate dogs (Denny and Margot) and a regal, elderly and equally affectionate cat (Gordon).
We housesat in December 2019/January 2020 in the Sydney area where we looked after a loveable cat named Jasper, minded the owner's home, and also cared for the eight rescue cats at their business (which was closed during the holiday period).
