About Us
Dave is a retired general manager from a large health insurance company. Cindy is a retired IT project manager, having worked at several financial institutions. We devote some of our retirement time to volunteering.
As a couple, we are both non-smokers, have excellent housesit & peronal references and excellent credit. We like to drink wine in moderation and enjoy trying new foods and experiences.
Animals have been part of our lives since having a hobby farm. At this point we are mostly interested in caring for cats since we have little experience with dogs and we know that horses are more heavy work than we would like to do at this point. We have had several cats in the past, some being aloof but others who seem to think they are dogs. They want to be where we are and love personal attention. So, we know how to engage with different kinds of cats.
Why We Want to House Sit
Since we are retired, we are looking to visit places around the world that we have always wanted to see. We like to experience a 'slice of life' where ever we are rather than be typical tourists.
We would prefer if the houses that we care for to be a non-smoking house. We would like to have Wi-Fi available, if it is possible.
Our Experience
We have house sitting experience caring for cats and birds. We most recently took care of 2 cats for 5 weeks in France and also in Ireland, 9 birds for 6 weeks in Germany. We currently own homes in Iowa for the summer and in Florida during the winter months. So we know how to take care of homes and can handle the usual issues. However, we are not expecting to do extensive home maintenance.
We are very clean people and like to keep things picked up and tidy so you will be very pleased coming home to a nice clean house.
