We are now trying to firm up our plans for the April to November period at the International Visitor Center. We are looking for some onet would take care of an International Visitor Center Iocated in Puerto Plata and stay in our modern (two year old) three story beach front house. When the center operates during High Season we have various conferences as well as serving as a visitor info center, but after high season (april to November) we are only partially open and that is usually only on the days the cruise ships are in port. Spanish is an asset but not absolutely necessary as the center operates as an center for English speaking tourists – most importantly is being welcoming to the visitors. I would spend a week or so with the housesitter to introduce them to the center and the culture and give a bit of an overall orientation. Do see our meetingplacepuertoplata
Here are some responses to some general questions you might have
· Question: how many days/week and how many hours/day of working at the center would be expected of the sitter? Roughly 4 hours on each of 3 days. Summer is slow but we do need someone to be present -- particularly when the cruise ships arrive -- just to answer questions and give information. It is a good place to do your own work with a strong internet connection.
Question: what is the transportation like between your home and the center -- is it walkable? Would a car be needed? A car is not needed -- we do not have a car. It is an easy 15 minute bus ride. to the center
Question: what are the amenities at the house like? · It is a newly constructed modern house which is some 500 meters from the beach and has a terrace overlooking the montain, sea and golf course.. But you really need to see it. If you are interested and can arrange it it would be good to come visit us sometime during the next 6 weeks to 8 weeks. The bottom floor is a fully functional guest apartment which you would be welcomed to stay -- then you could check out the surroundings, have a bit of an orientation to the place and to the center, and see if it is a good fit.
Question: What is sitter expected to pay? only electricity at the house --internet and visitor center expenses are not the responsiblity of the housesitter.
