I am right for house sitting because I am a responsible adult, parent, grandfather, and I have respect for other people and their property. I have been house sitting for friends for years and my lifestyle allows for flexibility and periods of being alone.
I am year old, single, male who has a background in agricultural education, environmental restoration, and business ownership. I have lived in the Ecuadorian Rainforest teaching English in a Achuar (indigenous natives) and have a love of nature and traditional cultures. I have a Bachelor's degree in Education, a Masters Degree in Transformative Leadership, and am currently a PhD Candidate at the California Institute of Integral Studies, in San Francisco, California.
At this time in my life I am concentrating on my studies and learning about indigenous and traditional cultures. I am personally clean and I like being in a clean, well kept environment; a non-smoker, no drugs, and no parties. I have years of experience with property maintenance; light carpentry, water and sewer systems, landscaping, and trouble-shooting problems when they arise. Above all else, I am responsible, honest, ethical, trustworthy, and consider my word my bond.
My main motivation for this application is for the opportunity to go back to Guatemala, to become fluent in Spanish and to learn more about the Guatemalan cultures. I visited Guatemala and Lake Atitlan in and would love to spend more time there. My studies require a lot of reading, contemplation, and writing and this would be a perfect match for me. I am not required to be back in the U.S. until August, , and so can make the commitment needed by the homeowner.
What I offer the homeowner is knowledge that their property and guests will be well taken care of and that they will return to the home they left. I take pleasure in caring for nature, being in service, and helping people. I love children, animals, and take pride in being a safe and caring adult. It would be my goal to provide reassurance to the home owner that they can enjoy their time away from their home without worry for their property or belongings.
