We're a British/Swedish couple exploring the world through slow travel. Both of us have had successful careers in the UK and left to live a slower life and follow our passions. Meeting new people, learning and developing ourselves is what keeps us excited and passionate.
We love travelling, we have visited many countries around the world, where we have worked, volunteered and met amazing people. We like staying in a place for a long time so we can become part of the community. Whilst in Colombia, we volunteered and looked after an Eco Hostel, which had goats, chickens, dogs and an organic garden. Looking after other people's homes like our own comes naturally to us as we have rented out our own flat on many occasions and understand the concerns of homeowners. While we're travelling we have developed a brand – The Gold In You – which inspires a more conscious travel and lifestyle,
Barry has founded two successful social enterprises in Norwich (UK) helping disadvantaged people back into work and accommodation. He’s a qualified coach and is experienced in managing people and businesses. Currently he is designing s and helping companies with brand strategy. He loves sports, photography and the outdoors.
Katia is Russian by birth, lived in Sweden and UK. She has taught language and literature at university in London and now teaches languages online. Her other passion is yoga, which she teaches together with holistic lifestyle all over the world.
We both love animals and one of our favourite things travelling around the South America was the abundance of street dogs, all of whom became our friends (the treats may have had something to do with this...). Adaptability is the greatest skill we've developed through these travels. This means that no matter what your needs are, we are prepared to make you feel confident and comfortable during your time away from home.
We really enjoy cooking cuisines from around the world, meeting new people, hiking, climbing, kite surfing and anything that helps us connect with the great outdoors.
