We are looking for experienced sitters for our 2 horses and our donkey, as well as for our dog, 2 cats, chickens and ducks. Our home is on 12 acres of hilltop oceanfront property with beautiful views, woods, and pastures to explore. It is an extremely private and untouched natural setting perfect for enjoying bird watching or observing deer and other wildlife. This is an excellent spot for anyone looking for some peace and quiet.
We are 15 minutes outside of historic Lunenburg and close many other seaside sailing and fishing communities. The larger town of Bridgewater is 25 minutes away along the beautiful LaHave River. It has a movie theatre, dining, lots of shopping, and most of the amenities of a city. The city of Halifax is a bit over an hour drive away and is well worth the visit.
Lobster season starts at the end of November, and the lucky sitters may have the luxury of fresh caught ( $6-$10/lb) lobsters from the fishermen at the wharf at the end of our driveway. Fortunately, the snow and freeze of winter don’t tend to set in here until February although cold storms can pass through. We have seen butterflies into December to give you an idea of the fickle but generally temperate climate here.
Our house has been recently expanded with some extra spaces still unfinished. There is very good internet, satellite TV, and Apple TV with Netflix etc. The main the living area has a cast iron wood burning stove, bright windows, great views of the south west facing cove and is a very comfortable space to enjoy.
Main Responsibilities:
Equine 2x daily turnout equine, manure removal & checking pasture/round bale/fenced area.
Cats/Dog - feed & letting in and out of house by varied schedule.
Poultry - Feed & water with some monitored free range or cage time daily, daily egg collection & nest box clean check, weekly coop cleaning
Home - clean as we left it, plant watering as instructed. Garbage & recycling out on time.
Use of UTV for all. Bonus of about 6 eggs a day fresh from the coop!
