We live in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, a large city, the capital of the state of Yucatan, on the Yucatan peninsula in a tropical climate. The weather while you are housesitting will be hot and humid, with occational rain showers.
Some knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not necessary.
!!Our housesitters will be living in a casita on the property with living/kitchen downstairs and one bedroom with bath upstairs. Upstairs bedroom has large balcony facing yard and pool, downstairs patio has additional sitting, eating area. All rooms are equipped with AC and ceiling fans. The Swimming pool has a salt water filter. Weekly pool service and housekeeping is provided. Housesitters responsibility include: KEEPING YUSUF, THE CAT, HAPPY AND FED watering and caring for yard and potted plants skimming leaves, etc. from pool as needed. Patios need swept daily, plants watered daily unless it rains.
. Merida is a large old colonial city, the capital of the Yucatan. There is free entertainment in different parks around the city, many good, world class restaurants, museums to explore and good shopping at several malls not to mention the market in Centro. Chichen Itza, a major Mayan archeological site is hours from Merida as are several other Mayan ruins. There are many tour agencies that do daily tours to these sites. The main bus line into Centro and out to 2 major malls and shopping areas is one block from the house. Either trip takes 15 to 20 minutes by bus. Uber and taxi service is also available if buses are not your style.
Progreso, Chelem and several other beach towns on the gulf coast are 45 minutes from the house with frequent bus service a block from the house.
