My name is Karen. I am an experienced house/pet sitter. I will provide you with competent care and attentive security for your home, pets, plants, and property, in a manner that is respectful of your individual needs and instructions.
I take pride in the caliber of care that I provide as a sitter. I am adept at handling many situations, including unforeseen emergency situations, which I have been known to tackle with competency and calm.
Being a house/pet sitter affords me the unique opportunity to provide beneficial services to others while simultaneously, visiting both new and much loved locations. Being a sitter also provides me with the perfect means of exploring the locations that I am considering for the purpose of relocation.
On a professional level, I am a semi-retired attorney, writer, and a successful developer of diverse community programs. My favorite, most meaningful job, has been as the mother of my two now-adult sons.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, writing, drawing, hiking, baking, traveling, viewing classic films, and theatre. Over the years, I have traveled and lived in places as distinct as the Canadian Arctic and Israel. I have had the good fortune to visit many wonderful places and I have met many memorable and wonderful people too.
Throughout my life I have been exposed to the care of many animals, including dogs, cats, fish, turtles, and some farm animals. I have always had a special love for animals. As a child, we always had a family dog. Additionally, I was known to bring home a unique assortment of animals; most of which I had caught. (My parents had great kindness ?). Growing up, I was also a frequent volunteer for the Humane Society.
I am at ease with varying animal personalities, with the exception of aggression. I strive to accommodate the temperament of each individual pet, so they can be as comfortable as possible with me. I have discovered that some pets enjoy engaging in active play, and some prefer more quiet care, such as brushing, cuddling, and petting. Most pets tend to enjoy both, depending on the time of day. If a pet is particularly timid, I will give them a wide berth of personal space, so they can determine when they want to engage in direct interactions with me. In such cases, I never force myself upon an animal. My experience has been that even the most timid of pets have come to feel at ease with me in a relatively short amount of time.
