I have recently paid my house sitter membership and placed my bio on your site for a house sit in Country X State X (eg England or Texas). However when I run through the list for those seeking a house sit in eg Engalnd/Texas my information is not there?

 

    1. I am not sure how to/cannot contact the homeowner in my housesit notification email. (having problems)

    Here are the steps for trouble free contacting of homeowner where the housesit has been notified to you be E-mail

    You must be a paid member to make contact.

      1) Start new browser session
      2) Login
      3) Click on apply for housesit button

    If the homeowner has sent you a message. Click on read messages following login to read and reply to their message.

    You can also experience problems with old browser versions. If you still have problems please tell us the name of the browser you are using and version.

     

    2. I would like to make myself available for housesitting in more than one country.

    To make yourself available for multiple countries simply click on update following to select multiple countries in the additional countries field.
     

    3. I would like to make myself available for housesitting in more than one state/province /city or area

    Following login click on the update button to select multiple states.

    All members can be available for multiple cities/areas. Simply click on update following login and edit the city or area fields to add multiple cities or areas separated by a comma. e.g. San Francisco, Los Angeles, Lost Altos
     

    4. How can I check my Message has got through

    After login click messages then the sent link. If the message is in the sent basket it has been placed in the in basket of the recipient and the have been sent an E-mail notification that they a message.
     

    5. Are there fees for housesitting? What are they?

    The standard housesit is rent free accommodation in exchange for housesitting and pet sitting (if applicable). Please refer to  our house sitting guide.
    For short duration housesits or for special duties fees are sometimes negotiated between the homeowner and house sitter. However many house sitters (e.g. traveling retirees) are prepared to housesit for short periods with no payment - just the benefit of experiencing another location. So fee free housesitters may be chosen in preference.  We provide guidelines, but each situation is unique and up for negotiation directly between homeowner and housesitter.

    Remember there is a great benefit in receiving rent free accommodation (especially for long term housesitting).

    We cannot give examples of rates as these vary by country and location.

    The HouseCarers.com service is free for homeowners and we do not charge any placement fee. We only charge a fee for housesitter gold membership (currently US$45.00 /year).
     

    6. How do I update my email address, advertisement or other details?

    As part of your use of the Site, you are responsible for maintaining and updating, as applicable, your membership Registration Data with current, accurate and complete information. You may view, update and/or edit the membership Data you have provided to HouseCarers.com by logging in to your account and clicking on update.
     

    7. How do I remove/suspend myself from search results and HouseCarers.com mailings

    Simply login to your account and click on suspend. This will remove you from search results and stop mailings. You can reactivate your membership by logging back in and clicking activate. Suspending membership does not extend the expiry date. The original membership expiry date remains.
     

    8. The system is not accepting my credit card or I do not want to pay be credit card.

    The Payment Processor’s secure payment system has various safety check in place that may reject a perfectly good credit card. (e.g. If a card is being used a long way from its place of issue)

    If your card is being rejected or you do not wish to pay be credit card: You may mail your payment as follows:

    Personal checks or International Money Orders (please do not send domestic US money orders) for US$55.00 (Our bank charges 20.00 to process checks/cheques from outside Australia) So we are sharing the cost by adding 10.00 to the normal US$45.00 membership fee.

    9. Please assure me about the security of your payment system

    We use a secure credit card processing organization - Clickbank, 2checkout.com or Paypal.com for credit card payments. This is what they have to say about their credit card processing system.

    11. I am having problems logging on. My userid or password does not work, or I have forgotten them.
    Simply go to our login page. There you will see a link for -  “If you do not remember your password or your Username does not work”. Click on it and you will be asked for your E-mail address. We will then E-mail your userid and password.

    12. How can I promote your service in my local area, to help me get a housesit?

    You can use the ad below as an ads/flyers to post on free notice boards in your area. Just print them out for posting at Libraries, Community notice boards, workplaces, schools, canteens, pet stores, pet grooming shops, gardening stores, supermarkets, shopping malls,  and other places that take free notices. Or you can letter box drop in the areas you are interested in.

    OR you can approach your local newspaper or magazine (who are always looking for stories) and ask if

    13. How can I change my user name?

    We have to run a special process to do this. Please do not do it lightly. Advise your current username
    and desired username/ Please first check that your desired username is available - it must be a least
    six characters long.

    14 City X is 2,000 Km/miles away - why did you notify me of this?
     

    We notify you of housesits according to the information from your profile. However within a state it is very difficult for the system to work out how far away a city or town is to you. So rather then miss telling you of a housesit that may interest you, we tell you about all housesits in your state. Just ignore the ones that are too far away.

    15. I seem to going round in circles. The system is not taking me to the right page.

    This is because the system is losing information between pages.  Make sure you don’t have too many browser windows (sessions) open. You can also experience problems with old browser versions (make sure you have at least Internet Explorer 5.1 - you can upgrade online  by clicking on your browser Tools menu then Windows update.

    Close all browser windows.
    Make sure you have at least Internet Explorer version 5.1
    Start a new browser window
    Try the action again.

     If you still have problems please tell us the name of the browser you are using and version.

    16 No Response from housesit applications

    After login click on messages then the sent link. If they are in your sent basket they have been
     placed in the inbasket of the homeowner and they have been sent an E-mail alert.

    To increase your response it is important to identify with the needs of the homeowner,
     and initially don’t talk too much about your own requirements. Show what you have to
     offer the homeowner. We also recommend you don’t just say "see our profile"

    17. Housesit is not found when I apply for it.
    You may receive a message “homeownerX has chosen not to list” or “HomeownerX has suspended their profile” - even shortly after you have received a housesit notification by E-mail

    Homeowners can remove their positing at any time due to filled or changed circumstances. This is the choice of the poster/homeowner and outside our control.

    They usually get a lot of applications so it is good to get in early. The notifications go out at around 1.00 am US East Coast time
    We are sorry you missed out with this one, we will keep you posted.

    18.. What is the trial (Non-Paid) membership as opposed to the US$45.00 membership

    We not longer offer trial memberships. You have a limited non-paid membership.
    You can receive notifications of housesits. Your ad appears after paid members; and
    you may receive a message form a registered home owner. To apply for housesits;
    reply to messages or display direct contact details you need to pay your membership fee.
    Many homeowners don’t register - but contact house sitters directly; hence the option for
    displaying direct contact details.

    19. I paid the membership fee at the payment processor (reseller) Clickbank.com, 2checkout.com
     or paypal.com but my membership is not showing the paid status (Gold or Full Member)

    After payment at the payment processor there is a link, or button displayed to return to us
     to update you as paid. So normally you have instant update to paid. We are sorry if this
    was not clear to you or it did not work due to a break in transmission. After payment completion
    you are sent an E-mail receipt. Simply forward this receipt to us and we will make sure your membership
    is updated to paid.

    20. I click on a link but nothing happens - the same page displays?

    Some links open a page in a new browser page/window. Many browsers now block this from
    happening (pop-up blockers are built in). Please hold down the CTRL key then click and the
    new page will open - e.g. view senders profile at the read message page.

    21. I get page not available.
    Our dedicated server has a very high uptime 99.9%. However sometimes there is an internet network problem between your location and our server,  which can cause this problem. Please clear your browser cache -get rid of old pages on your computer - from browser internet options click delete files, and then login again and try again. If it still does not work please leave for an hour or so and the internet network problem between you and our server in Delaware may have resolved.

    22. I registered but I have not received your confirming E-mail to complete the 2nd step to activate my registration.
    Important to receive our E-mail: with the prevalence of spam, many innocent E-mails like ours get blocked, or filtered  If applicable with your provider, please click the button below to get the e-mail to add  to your friends/allow/white list to make sure you get our confirming E-mail and future E-mails from us. If applicable check your junk folder to see if the E-mail has gone there. 
     

     

    23. How do people contact us if they see our ad and are interested -- we didn’t put in phone numbers or choose to display our  e-mail address link?
    You may select to display your E-mail link and or phone number. The E-mail link is
    encrypted to prevent harvesting by spam bots. Many homeowners wish to
    contact directly rather than registering to use our internal message system. Other
    homeowners prefer to use our message system.. So you can be contacted through our internal message system, as well as directly (if you selected display E-mail link). To change your options at any time please click the update link after login.

    24. Is there a House Sitters free trial membership? I did not realize there was a membership fee before I signed up as an available house sitter

    We offer a restricted non-paid membership (not a full trial). You can receive notification of housesits and
    possible messages. To respond to the messages, apply for any listed housesits, or to list direct
    contact details you need to pay the US$45.00 membership fee. There is no time limit on this.

    The House Sitters membership fee is clearly set out on our home page and at the top of the house sitters registration page.

    Paying membership straight away makes you immediately more accessible to homeowners. Your listing will appear before unpaid members; you will be able to upload photos; display direct contact details and respond immediately to requests for house sitters.

    The membership fee is for 12 months listing/advertising at our site. This allows you to apply for unlimited housesits during this time. 

    25 What about utilities, bond, responsibilities, and signing an agreement?
    Please refer to our House Sitting Guide for answers to these issues. We strongly recommend  that all housesits are covered with a house sitting agreement between Home Owner and House Sitter. This means all responsibilities, and expectations are covered and avoids potential misunderstandings. This agreement can be downloaded by clicking agreement or guide after login.

    26 I Cant find my house sitter profile when searching for country X/ STate X /City X
    A lot of house sitters select eg England/Texas. Homeowners don't do such general searches(eg Country wide, State wide) It is not a relevant search for  them, as they don't want to page through hundreds of general results. They only live in one place and will use that in their search. We recommend you add your favoured towns and cities, counties/districts  etc anduse that in your search result. For large cities (eg London, Sydney or r New York)  also add city area, or suburb to your profile and use them in your search as well.
