We stayed at Karolyn & Richard's beautiful and modern place for nearly 2 weeks in late autumn 2019 – that's a wonderful time of the year in North Carolina!
Our duties have been housesitting and pet care. Lucy, their very well-trained dog, was a pure enjoyment and easy to get along: ball fetching in the dog park was all she loved. Feeding twice a day was easy and morning and evenings walking with stunning sun rises and sets were just adorable.
We loved to be at this co-housing community in the middle of the forest with its amazing people at this piece of paradise… Outstanding is the mindfulness to the environment: the community is eco-friendly and well equipped, i.e. there is a huge solar panel construction at the entrance of the community.
We felt immediately at home among those people. Upon our arrival Karolyn & Richard prepared a lovely dinner for us. Specially we loved meatballs and self-made (grown and prepared) extremely aromatic tomato sauce, which made our son addicted to it ? …
Everything was well prepared for us. We enjoyed the DVDs and rare classical music CD collection in their house as well! Even a car was lent to us to do errands and discovering the (hidden) American historical treasures as Bennet place, Raleigh and Durham.
We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay: on top a full fridge, generous groceries, two bedrooms for us three. Lucy was trained never to go upstairs or step on the carpet or to enter the bathroom. Never barking, an absolutely adorable dog!
Getting to know the other members of this special community was a great pleasure. We even could do an extra cat sitting next door for a long weekend.
Halloween was a special thing for our son Rafael wandering around in costumes with other kids for "trick or treats". The people in the community organized a costume for our son, even brought an extra bloody kit, which made his Dracula outfit extra frightening…
Karolyn organized a pumpkin and carving tools for Halloween. This pumpkin made a scary witch appearance for more than a week at our front door!
A passing by tornado (which didn’t hit us) with lots of lightning and thunder has been an extra thrill ?…
Although Karolyn & Richard came back very late at night before our departure, Karolyn gave us a ride to far away Raleigh airport early next morning, after just a very few hours of sleep.
We not just recommend this wonderful place and its most welcoming people – we have to tell you a secret: if you won't take chance to go there, you'll risk losing something important for your life experience…
Endless thanks for all your kindness and this wonderful time!
Love,
Frank & Family
