We are looking for a house sitter who loves walking dogs. Our pup is a 10-month old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. We initially had a boarding facility lined up for her, but last week found out that Ruby is has giardia. Luckily, Ruby is asymptomatic and will finish her medication in the next few days. We never would have found out that she has giardia except the boarding facility required a test just before going. Because giardia is contagious for the next few weeks from her poop, she is not allowed to go to the boarding facility or to her usual daycare, but she is totally find to be around humans. Additionally, Ruby may go into heat while we are out of town, and this means she may be extra needy of attention.
Ruby is a loving dog who likes to be with her pack. She doesn't love her crate, but can tolerate about an hour at a time in it during the day. Since she is a puppy still, we don't allow her to be home alone in the house - only in the crate. We have a lovely fenced yard in the back of the house and she likes to run around back there with supervision. When left alone in the yard she has been known to dig holes, so we always keep an eye on her.
Aside from the care of Ruby, we live in a lovely residential neighborhood called Wedgwood that is close to many amenities including parks and Lake Washington. The neighborhood is quiet with many families and older couples. We have a small garden box of tomatoes that will probably be ripe right in time for this week. The house will not require any work during the week that you would be helping out, but if you want to play in the garden box, feel free!
Because Ruby takes so much energy, she may be suited best for a couple who can split the work, or one person who REALLY loves dogs.
