Hello! We are heading east to see family in late August/early September and need someone to come stay with our two kitties. Bobcat and Finnegan are both super sweet, indoor only cats who LOVE people! Finnegan will be your right hand man while you're home, and always there to remind you that it is time for breakfast or dinner (7 AM and 7 PM, unless you break down and feed him earlier - he will beg!). Bobcat is mellower, and content to nap upstairs on his own - he does love his belly rubs, though. They are used to having people around, so we want someone who is willing to spend each night here in the house while we are away.
Frank and I live in a 2 story house with a finished basement in SE Portland near Mt. Tabor Park. The house was built in 1900, and still has many of the original built ins. It's clean and comfy with modern touches - we have high speed internet for streaming, but no cable television. We are just on the east side of Mt. Tabor where there are hiking trails and amazing views of Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helen. We are about 8 miles from PDX Airport, and about 5 miles from downtown Portland. SE Stark St is a nice walk from our place, and the Montavilla strip there has some great restaurants, bars and shops.
We would prefer a non-smoking person or couple who would also be willing to water our garden while we are away. Anything growing in it would be up for grabs while you stay, and there's a great Farmer's Market every Sunday morning in Montavilla. We can also stock the fridge ahead of time and leave directions to Safeway or some fancier grocery stores if you want.
Mt. Hood, Timberline Lodge and the Columbia River Gorge are less than an hour to the East from here. Oregon Wine Country is less than an hour to the South, and the beaches of Sauvie Island Nature Preserve are 30 minutes to the Northwest. If you use public transit - which is clean and safe here in Portland - there's a bus that picks up only a few blocks away which will take you right into downtown and The Pearl District. The closest MAX Train Station is SE Main St - Green Line - which is less than a mile from here, but not so well lit at night. Uber and Lyft are always available.
