Our rural finca sits in 2000 sq mtrs of orchard and garden. It is 15 mins drive from Chiclana de la Frontera and near the historic city of Cádiz. We are also 15 mins drive to some of the best beaches in Spain. There is a friendly local bar, within walking distance, that serves meals and tapas and where neighbours, Spanish and English speaking, meet. There are regular local buses into Chiclana from outside the bar.
The finca is off-grid and has a solar system that provides 24hr electricity to the house, there is a back-up generator should it be needed. We grow much of our own vegetables and fruit. We have broadband internet and wi-fi in the house.
In the wider area, as well as the facinating Cádiz city, we are close to Jerez, famous for it's sherry bodegas and hours by train to the beautiful city of Sevilla. There are Moorish hill towns such as Vejer and Medina Sidonia near by. Within 15 minutes drive there are kilometers of wonderful beaches such as in Conil, Sancti Petri and La Barrosa, which are virtually deserted in the winter.
Apart from the minimal work involved in looking after the animals, we would want sitters to keep the house dry and aired. The winter can at times be damp and we have two wood-burning stoves which help to keep the place warm and aired. In addition, any sitters with gardening and tree pruning skills would be welcome to do some of that work should they wish.
The house is currently on the market (a very slow market!) so there is a small possibility you may have to show someone the house.
