I may be looking for a house-sitter in July and August 2016, dates not fixed yet. The weather in Mazatlan can be hot and humid at that time.I do have AC in the house.
I have a 4 bedroom/3-bathroom 2 storey house in the south end of Mazatlan, walking distance to Historic Centro, the beach and 10 km-long malecon, restaurants, bars, shops.
I have two dogs, Annie and Teddie, who are great dogs that need 3 walks a day. They don't need long walks, particularly if it is hot. Annie (yellow lab mix) is a senior dog, 14, and Teddie is 9. Teddie (Bichon/Shitzu - non-shedding) sleeps on my king-size bed, but Annie sleeps on her own bed. She is also completely deaf and on a of medication so some special needs there.I want sitters to know this up front in case having pets sleep on the bed is a problem for them.
I really prefer a couple and that one of you at least can speak passing Spanish. It helps a lot.
Mazatlan is a great place for both beach lovers and people who enjoy history and art. You can walk to most things, or take a pulmonia (an open air taxi) or frequent buses to everywhere.
I live here year-round but do need someone to live in for periods of time when I travel back to Canada or other places. My house is furnished in 3 of the bedrooms, and my bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. It is spacious with a covered car-port and a back patio with garden, humming birds, a banana tree. I have a washing machine and clothesline for drying.
I cover all expenses such as rent, utilities, dog food, etc. and a housekeeper comes in weekly to clean which I will prepay.
Being able to speak some Spanish is helpful. I prefer couples so the dogs get max attention.
I sometimes do rent out one or two of the other rooms on for short-term stays. May is not likely to be a busy period but I would like you to be open to handling this as it is a source of income for me. I would notify you of a booking and provide all of their information, and you would greet them, get them settled in their room and the house, make sure they have everything they need and answer any questions etc. They will have their own bathroom. Most of my guests are pretty independent once they arrive, and come and go as they wish. None have been a problem for me with regard to noise or bad behaviour. Some like to use the kitchen and prepare some meals for themselves, others never use the kitchen or any of the common areas.
