Hi, we are looking for a caring, genuine animal lover to care for 2 small dogs, 1 cat & some chooks in a pretty, peaceful semi rural location in the Townsville area. DATES FLEXIBLE. 1 night ideally first (April-June) followed by 7-10 days (August).
Woman/couple wanted, honest, caring, sincere, reliable, non smoking, clean/tidy and who most importantly love animals. I prefer to meet you first, a local ideal, but travellers will be considered.
House and Pet Sitting references a must, and a Police Check preferred.
August 1-7 preferred, may extend by a few days, dates flexible either side. Sitter needs to arrive the day before.
We (long time friend/housemate & I) live in a modern 3 br house on a scenic semi-rural acreage half an hour from city centre, minutes to a nice park/bushwalk, 5 min drive to fuel/small store, 10 min drive to shopping complex, as well as a lovely National Park within minutes with nice walks & swimming holes.
We have a pool, lots of birdlife who visit the birdbath, a nice view of the mountains and fresh country air.
One of my little dogs is untrusting of some strangers due to previous abuse so you really need to love and understand dogs/know how to approach & interact with a dog with trust/abuse issues. With strangers she is timid/cautious. She is a real little sweetheart who just wants to feel safe and loved. She loves to cuddle & play with her toys. My other dog is elderly and just potters about when she is not sleeping. You probably won't be required to walk (young) dog (to be discussed).
Daily duties: everyone needs food and fresh water daily, and chook boxes to be cleared of eggs daily & cleaned every few days. Cat litter box to be cleaned 2-3x/day. Few plants to water occasionally. Check/clean out pool filter once or twice a week.
While payment is not out of the question, preference will be given to someone willing to sit for free purely because not expecting payment shows that sitter is more likely to be doing this out of kindness & a love of animals, which is our #1 criteria. :)
In exchange we will provide free rent & utilities, coffee, tea, all you can eat fresh free-range eggs, and the use of our house & pool in a beautiful area.
You must have a reliable car. Ample room for a caravan, with power & water hookup available. Lots of books, travel magazines, dvds, birds to watch (14+ species visit us), beautiful views...
