We live on a 16 acre property with 2 lovely outdoor dogs who would prefer to stay at home while we are away, and a handful of chooks who like to free range for part of each day. The house is situated in the bend of a river, with views across the river, into the bush. There are neighbours nearby who would be only too happy to help out if needed. The towns of Devonport (Spirit of Tasmania terminal) and Ulverstone are about 15 minutes drive away on the coast, and the small town of Forth is 5 minutes away. There are numerous beautiful beaches on the north west coast and the world-renowned Cradle Mountain national park is just over an hours drive away. Other Tasmanian icons are very accessible from here – Sheffield’s murals, Barringwood Park Winery, Ghost Rock winery, Tazmazia, the Nut at Stanley, historic villages, National Parks…we’ve got it all! The house is warm and comfortable with a newly installed wood heater. We have tank and river water, there is no garbage service or mail to the home. The house is on a septic tank and has gas hot water and stove. There is an additional electric wall oven and a microwave. You will have full use of the downstairs area of the house, giving you a queen sized bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/living area and separate lounge room, laundry and extra toilet. We would expect our home to be kept clean and tidy. We have Wifi internet throughout the house with huge download capacity…especially good if you work from home via the internet. We are on satellite TV. Our dogs, who have their own yard and kennel, would need to be walked twice a day, morning and early evening, and fed in the evening. The chooks will need to be fed each day, and let out for a “free range” time each afternoon, then when they have gone back into roost, their door closed to keep them safe through the night. There will be eggs to collect, which you are most welcome to use. There is a small herb garden near the house, a neglected vegie garden away from the house, some roses, fruit trees and lots of grassed area, which will probably need some mowing, especially if the weather warms up. We have a ride-on mower! We are not great gardeners, but if you have a green thumb and are pining to get the vegie garden in order or have the desire to weed, go right ahead! This is not an expectation however. A gardener will visit once a week for a couple of hours just to help keep on top of the spring growth. If you are a mature, non-smoking couple who would like this experience, chilling out on the river bank, in a well-designed double glazed, insulated, passive solar house, caring for 2 gorgeous dogs and our productive little flock of hens, please get in touch.
