High altitude (over 8,000') for you skier, winter hiker, artist, writer types. Mountain village with about 10 art galleries, no gas station, a grocery store that is not well stocked and only occasionally open. On weekdays there is a free bus to and from Espanola which has supermarkets, gas stations, library with computers and WalMart, and more buses to Taos, Santa Fe and Los Alamos so a vehicle would make you free to come and go whenever but it is not absolutely essential. So far there hasn't been much snow and it hasn't been that cold but that can change any day.
Keep the fires burning in a 2BR/2bath house and casita (small guest house). Kitchen in house but not casita. Nice place to be over the holidays so no pay. Farolitos, the whole magical, delightful, traditional New Mexico Christmas scene. If roads are clear less than one hour drive to Santa Fe or Taos. Your pets okay if clean, well- behaved and leave carpets unchewed/furniture unclawed. We have no pets or indoor plants.
No landline. Library is a 5 minute walk and has DSL and computers for a few hours a day. Limited cell phone signal TV and DVD player.
Tell us briefly about yourself and why you would want to be in a cold, snowy, remote, beautiful place for 2 weeks. A harmonious couple or single person please. We would like things to be at least as clean as we left them when you leave. We don't want to hear strange stories about you when we return. People aren't that nosy. There just isn't much happening so everyone notices everything.
If you would prefer to housesit for only one of the two weeks that could work as well.
