Montgomery and Gidget are two black rescue cats who need someone to take care of them over Christmas and New Years whilst we are off getting married. They are low maintenance cats who love affection. Monty is generally very sociable and friendly, Gidget is, once she gets to know you. The need patience and kindness sometimes and in Gidget's case - someone to have a conversation with and to throw toys for her to fetch. You must love cats and have experience taking care of them. The cats are our key priority. They are our kids!
The house itself, is actually an apartment - 2 bed, 2 bathroom, just near the Liverpool St end of Hyde Park. It is on the border of Sydney and Surry Hills. The apartment is full of sunshine and light, very low maintenance, and there are only 8 pot plants on the balcony to water. The apartment is on the higher floors so if you have issues with heights it may not suit you. This means that the balcony door must never be left open or the cats permitted on the balcony under any circumstances. They can't be trusted not to inadvertently jump over and another cat in the building has unfortunately done this, without success.
It is very centrally located - a short walk to Museum Station, Central Station and Town Hall station, as well as numerous bus stops, and the light rail. Pitt Street Mall is a 10 minute walk, and the Australian Museum is 5 minutes. Hyde Park and the War Memorial is a couple of minutes away. You have access to any number of restaurants and pubs - we can recommend plenty in the area! Unfortunately, there is no view of the NYE fireworks from the apartment.
The building is relatively small and most of the owners know each other, it is well maintained and has a lovely rooftop pool which is accessible during daylight hours. We would prefer someone who is generally sensible, easy going and who wants to spend quality time with the cats. They don't tolerate loud noises or too many strange people so we'd prefer a house sitter who isn't interested in having parties over the period and it would be preferable if the house sitter could be home on new years eve when the fireworks are on, so the cats are not scared. References are required and it would be preferable for you to meet the cats and see the apartment beforehand.
