We have decided to leave our 5 year old labradoodle, Sam, behind while we go to Florida for 5-6 weeks, after reading about the problems of flying a dog. Sam is a sweet heart, really really cute, friendly and loving, but in need of daily pats and a couple of walks/ball throwing plays a day. He will probably need to go to his groomer once during this time for a bath and hair cut as he has poodle hair. He likes other dogs but is accustomed to having his space to himself. We would not rule out someone with a dog, but we do not have a fenced yard. He sticks close to home but we usually take him out. Some poop scoop is needed but we have a scooper from PetSmart that makes the job easy, just scoop and throw it into the woods Sam can be left alone for several hours, but if longer, we always take him with us.
We have a small fairly new home on Bainbridge Island with beach access a short block from here. It is very quiet here with some huge trees. We are a five minute drive to the ferry which goes to downtown Seatttle every hour, taking 30 minutes. Bainbridge is a wonderful community with lots of open space, beaches and trails. The downtown is darling with cute shops and galleries and we are only minutes or a short walk to stores. Our neighbors are totally reliable and we have close friends who are available if there is a major problem. Sam's vet. is five minutes away. We have cable internet service with two desk areas linked to the cable modem by a wireless network.
We also want someone who knows plants as we have a 20 year old christmas cactus that is dear to our hearts. It was my mother's favorite. Otherwise, we are fairly laid back and used to muddy dog paws. Your primary "job" is loving Sam.
We would love to meet you and have you meet Sam and see what we can work out.
Thanks so much and we look forward to hearing from you.
