We are looking for an active retired couple to housesit our home for eight weeks. The location is just outside Dunedin and close to Mosgiel where we live on a 100acre lifestyle block, consisting mostly of bush and plantation forest. While we do have a small handful of sheep and a few ponies, we do not envisage that any animal maintenance is necessary. Our friendly german- shepherd dog is a very keen walker however! A peculiarity of our property is that we are not connected to the power-net for electricity. This we generate ourselves mostly by way of two small water turbines, but have a stand-by diesel generator in case of a shortfall. The system is mostly self-governing, but does require regular monitoring and possibly some adjusting from time to time. Cooking is done by way of gas, and heating by way of firewood (of which we have a very large supply ready for use). A 4wd car would be made available to the housesitter during their stay. This is a very brief description of the general circumstances. Please feel free to ask for further information if potentially interested. Thanks, Peter S.
