We live in Ajijic, which is 35 miles south of Guadalajara, and our home overlooks Lake Chapala, which is the largest lake in Mexico. The climate is wonderful. We have a maid that comes in 3 days a week, and also a gardener. We have 2 dogs that like to be walked twice a day, other than that, nothing more is required of you. Since Mexico is a Catholic country there is many activities during the Christmas season. There are also many daily tours to Guadalajara and surrounding areas. There are many "gringos" in the area, so speaking Spanish is not a requirement. Lots of nice restaurants also.
