We quickly came to love Rob & Sue's blue heeler Ziggy. You would have to be there or at least see videos to understand the bond we developed with Ziggy,  and we can also say with confidence that Rob, Sue, their two daughters, are 'good people', welcoming. O uh r first get to know then was an awesome hike in the nearby hills accompanied by a refreshing swim. We went through Cyclone Jasper and later flooding, taking a lot of extra precautions to protect out Ron + Sue's property, including constructing a mini hotel for Ziggy with us in the 'safe zone', overcoming several power outages. We took care of their salt pool, lawns, plants, and anything needing maintenance. If the reader is considering helping Rob and Sue, either in Cairns or elsewhere,  we can vouch for them, go ahead and help them, and their children, we believe, like our sentiments,  it will be a positive experience!

Candace is the best!

Candace is a fabulous house and catsitter! She is very capable at navigating new places and taking on responsibility. We overlapped with Candace for one day as we prepared for our trip and it was really wonderful getting to know her. She has a true traveler's spirit and nothing is daunting for her! She took great care of my garden and cat and home. I would highly recommend having Candace as a housecarer - she is a true gem!

Bobbie is a kind and considerate house sitter.

Bobbie housesat for us over the winter holidays in December 2023 - January 2024. She took wonderful care of our cat and our home. She is very kind and considerate in everything that she says and does. She is an excellent communicator and asks the right questions to ensure that she is doing everything I have asked. We overlapped for a few days at the beginning of her stay which allowed us all to get to know each other and for her to become accustomed to the workings of the house. This was a great opportunity for us all to meet a new, wonderful person in the world! During this time Bobbie was very quiet and respectful of our space and time as we were preparing for our trip. 

I felt very comfortable leaving my home and cat in Bobbie's care. I left her with detailed instructions for all things related to home and cat care. I highly recommend having Bobbie as a housecarer!

Alyssa housesat for us from 6 October to 26 December 2023 while we were overseas.  

We own a beachhouse on the ocean and would not allow just anyone to housesit for us.  We were comfortable with Alyssa to look after our home and our cats and our feelings were proven correct.

She looked after our home and yard like it was her own and we were very happy with the results.  Our home was spotless when we arrived home and the gardens and grass were regularly watered and even the weeds were removed.  

She also cared for our precious cats and ensured we were updated on how they were.  

We would not hesitate in having her housesit for us again and would  recommend Alyssa for any housesits she applies for.

Holly and her sons were welcoming and very flexible in terms of allowing me to come a few days early. And, Wonder, the cat, was not your typical cat. He was incredibly friendly and social.

I had a very peaceful stay in their 200 year old church...it was a great 1st housesit experience for me.

This is a fantastic sit with very organised and kind homeowners.  They left very clear instructions, had someone come to mow the lawns and once a month check on the pool. They were kind in picking up from the airport and loaning their car, as the location is somewhat difficult with public transport. The cats are wonderful too, including the additonal rescue kitty Peekaboo who arrived during my stay. Gia and Merlin were super affectionate and fun, each with their quirks and liked pets and cuddles. Would highly recommend this sit.

I had the absolute pleasure of having this wonderful couple cat and house sit for me, and I couldn't be happier with their care and attention to detail. From the moment Kerry and Richard arrived, it was evident that they were warm, caring individuals who adored cats. Their communication was top-notch, keeping me updated regularly and sending pictures and videos.

But what truly stood out was the genuine affection they showed towards my bengal cat companion. It was a joy to witness how much they loved my cat, and it was mutual—the cat took to them immediately (I think I had a moment of jealousy LOL). They respected my cat's routines and quirks, ensuring that his royal lifestyle remained uninterrupted. It was evident that they understood his preferences and catered to his every need including lots of playtime and belly rubs.

Aside from their love for animals, they were exceptionally clean and organized, leaving my home spotless upon my return. I cannot recommend them enough—they are the perfect choice for anyone seeking caring, responsible, and cat-loving sitters who will ensure your furry friend's happiness, well-being and safety while you're away.

Welcoming hosts, lovely home, and amazing, playful yet gentle, bengal cat! This was a great house and pet sit. Grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacy, parks all close by. Super transit options or longer walk into downtown. Highly recommend.

Benevolent hosts. We had an easy experience negotiating and during the housesit period. Communication was really good! And Charlie is such a beautiful companion! (The senior sweet dog I was taking care of). I enjoyed my cuddles with him.

Lovely home, access to main avenues and public transportation, to cafes and supermarkets. Quiet neighborhood.

Alec and Heather answered our ad, and were great communicators from day one.  They understood perfectly what we were after and gave us some inside in their background and lifestyle by talking to us via video chat, and by showing us their house and surrounds.  

They were constantly in touch with us to keep us up to date with what was going on in the garden and weatherwise.  They were pro-active in looking after everything.  They even found some extra jobs to finish around the house and garden! What treasures they were!

And of course, upon our return, the garden was flourishing, the house spic & span and my car as shiny as when I left it.

In short: we can highly recommended them.  Lovely people who could easily become good friends, and we would not hesitate to ask them again would the need arise. However, taking into acount the distance between us I don't expect to ever be lucky enough to see them back in Australia. One can only live in hope... ;-)

I am new to housecarers and I absolutely hit the jackpot with Barb and Jim.

Extremely conscientious, great communicators, super process, caring and just absolutely fabulous! They went above and beyond to make sure they had detailed information (they have an intake form!) to tackle whatever may have come up during their stay. The love and care of my cat Mookie-Bleu was first and foremost. 

I had a bit of a change to my schedule and they were flexible and understanding. They sent pictures while I was away which was greatly appreciated and timely updates. Barb and Jim cared for my home as if it were their's and provided input on items for me to look at. They left my home spotless - absolutely clean and all in order. Mookie-Bleu was content which was beyond priceless for me.

Would recommend them to anyone wanting quality care of pet and home. Thank you Barb and Jim for making this such a positive experience - you've spoiled me!!

We had a great time at Sandra's place in Whitechapel. The place was impeccably clean, conveniently located, and Bobby is a very sweet boy. He warmed up to us right away, loved snuggles and attention, and was easy to look after. Communication with Sandra was also incredibly easy and she provided us with all relevant information.

Nick and Bonnie made me feel right at home from the very start, even picking me up at the airport and taking me to the airport for my departure flight. They took time before their departure to show me around Frederiksted and Christiansted. They had a helpful guidelines for the care of their pets, house, and information on the bus lines and towns. Casper is the best dog ever! He loves his morning walks and both minds well and loves attention. The love birds, chickens, and fish are easy to care for. Their home is very comfortable, tidy, and I enjoyed the rural atmosphere with horses and goats down the road. I could easily take care of the pets in the morning and then enjoy going out and about to sightsee. Highly recommend!

It gives us great pleasure to recommend Penny (Reliable_GrtPetCare) to anyone searching for a pet/house sitter. She took excellent care of our dog, chickens, fish, lovebirds, even our sourdough starter! She  checked in from time to time, letting us know that all was well at home and she competently handled a minor emergency on her own initiative. We returned to a squeaky clean home and healthy happy pets.

Sara house sat for our house for two months which involved taking in the mail, watering plants and handling other household maitenance requirements.  She was communicative and kept in touch with us during our absence. She watered the plants and even sorted our mail for us.  We definitely recommend her to take care of your housesitting needs.

Heart-warming housesit

Jim and I housesat for Andrea and Greg in Oct/Nov 2023. We quickly became attached to their lovely, yet old, Keeshond, Dodger. Yet, after 8 years of housesitting, we had our first death of a pet while at a sit. Andrea and Greg were always available and involved during the 4-day event - - over a weekend :(  They were sympathetic to our grief as we tried to alleviate theirs. As difficult as the process was, the veterinarian team made the experience respectful and peaceful for which we were grateful. 

Andrea and Greg are warm, delightful, and intelligent people. We were able to spend a lovely evening with them before they left. Their home is very comfortable, the water view is a treat, and we got to know Anacortes a bit more during our month at their home. The local gym/pool was a treat and they offer month-long passes. 

Since both Andrea and Greg love their Keeshonds, we'd be happy to return when they open their home to another Keeshond pup.

I had a wonderful time house sitting for Vicky and David. I stayed from early October to mid December and greatly enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of the location, the many excellent hiking trails in the area and charming local villages. The house itself is comfortable and eco-friendly. I spent a couple of days with Vicky on arriving so she could explain how everything works; contact was very easy both in person and via Whatsapp throughout my stay. If you're looking for somewhere far from the madding crowd I warmly recommend this sit. N.B. A car is essential and you need to cover whatever gas (cooking and hot water) and wood (heating) you use.

Above and Beyond Care

Jim and Barb took care of our senior dog and our house this Fall.  We were so fortunate to have found them and are forever indebted to them.  About 7-10 days into our trip, our dog had a serious episode which led to numerous conversations between Jim/Barb, our vet and us across the time zones.  Jim and Barb were very compassionate and clear-sighted.  They endured our dog becoming gravely ill and ultimately we collaboratively determined that he needed to be put down. 

It was a huge blessing to us to have such wonderful people taking care of this situation on our behalf--a situation every pet owner dreads might happen while out of the country.

I strongly recommend Barb and Jim as housesitters / pet carers and we hope they might come and stay at our home again.

Sitting for Karen's sweet pooch was a pleasure.  He was such a cute and funny little sweety.  Her lovely and large home was clean, comfortable, and filled with so many amenities.  Karen was very nice, generous and made us feel right at home.  She made a yummy dinner for us the night of our arrival.  She communicated well.  The wifi was strong.  We would love to sit for her again.

So this was the first time using a house sitter. So didn't know what to expect. But it was a wonderful experience. She connected with my dog buddie right away. The 2 cats warmed up to her as well. She sent me pictures of them. And kept me updated. Everything in my home was perfect when we arrived back home. She even left us a card. Telling how great the animals were. While we were gone she had watered my plants and made sure the litter box was clean when we got back home. I would definitely us her again on my next vacation without a doubt.

Leaving our furry and feathered family for any trip is always stressful, but this time, Ed  put our worries to rest with his superhero-level pet sitting skills!

He wasn't just a dog walker; he was a one-man (or should I say, one-person?) household crew! Not only did he keep our pups happy and well-exercised, but he made sure our cats were snuggled and feathery friends had fresh water.

But his care went far beyond the furbabies! Our house sparkled when we returned – cleaner than we even left it (seriously, where did he find all those missing socks?). Plus, he had an eagle eye for broken things and wielded a handyman's magic – the wonky door hinge? Fixed! The leaky faucet? Singing like a bird!

He even kept our garden thriving with his green thumb magic, giving our thirsty plants a much-needed drink.

Ed wasn't just a dog sitter; he was a guardian angel for our entire home. We came back relaxed and refreshed, knowing everything was taken care of with love and attention.

If you're looking for a pet sitter who goes above and beyond, look no further. Ed is a gem, and we can't wait to have him back (and hopefully convince him to water our plants even when we're home!).

What a wonderful time in the Smoky Mountains! Every morning waking up to the amazing views from their wrap around porch and enjoying a nice cup of coffee or two while their dog is at your feet and a couple of friendly kittys take turns sitting on your lap! Jeff & Elaine immediately bonded with my little fur baby and took excellent care of him. He's even more spoiled than when I left, if that's even possible. The house is cleaner than when I left and they even made stir fry for dinner when I got home. They collected all my mail and even sent me pics of a couple items I had been waiting on. I would gladly have them back for future house sits.

Nathalie and Daniel are easygoing and friendly homeowners. They welcomed us, made us feel like at home and helped us whenever we were in doubt throughout the sitting period. It was lovely meeting them! Their cats are adorable and we had an amazing time together. Those 3 weeks spent in Germany felt like a proper vacation. The countryside and landscape are amazing and we loved it there. The place is super relaxing and quiet and the house is well organised. Their garden is also beautiful.

The highlight of sitting for Marguerite and Mookie Bleu? All of it. Marguerite was a joy to sit for. She is gracious, easy to communicate with, and easy-going. Mookie Bleu, the wonder cat, is excellent company. He likes to be near his people, sleeping comfortably, with an occasional bout of rambunctious play. Together, they share a delightful condo, with plenty of different spaces to eat, hang out, or work. The condo is bright - both in light and decor - which was much appreciated. The building is also well-appointed with plenty of friendly neighbors. Her unit is on the quiet side of the building but since it is on the edge of the commercial district, it is only blocks to the shops and restaurants of Edmonds. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Mookie Bleu and hope to see him and Marguerite again.

My house/pet sit at Liz McLaren’s home in Bishops Waltham (UK) was wonderful - in the truest sense of the word - from beginning to end.

Liz kindly picked me up at the bus station (the trains were on strike on the  day I arrived) and took me to the train station at the end of my 2-week stay.

She has a lovely home and garden, only a 10-minute walk to the High Street where every amenity was easily available, including a very nice pub and fish ‘n chips shop.  There was also excellent bus service from Bishops Waltham to and fro Winchester which I very much enjoyed using.

Last, but not least, the kitties (DJ and Missy) were a veritable delight to care for, to get to know and to become friends with.

Liz thoughtfully left me instructions for every aspect of the running of her home, including contacting the neighbors in the event I needed help, which I did as I was uncertain how to turn on the oven!  

Thanks to Liz’s thoughtfulness, everything went like clockwork!
